Durable products, designed to last
KAJO products are designed with durability and long service life in mind. Long‑lasting products help reduce environmental impact over time by minimizing the need for replacement.
Materials and product design
Many KAJO products use recycled materials as part of their design:
- KAJO steel thermos bottles are made from recycled steel
- KAJO Tritan bottles use recycled Tritan plastic
- Many KAJO backpacks are made from RPET materials
Material choices are one way we aim to reduce environmental impact at the product design stage.
Responsible Manufacturing
KAJO products are manufactured in audited factories that undergo social responsibility assessments such as BSCI and SEDEX/SMETA audits.
Manufacturers follow supplier codes of conduct covering labour conditions, environmental practices, and responsible use of energy and materials.
Transportation
Products are primarily transported to Finland by sea freight, which typically has a lower climate impact than air freight. Domestic deliveries within Finland are mostly handled by Posti.
Product carbon footprint information
We aim to increase transparency by sharing examples of product carbon footprints.
The figures below show estimated greenhouse gas emissions (CO₂e per product) related to:
- raw materials, and
- transportation to Finland.
The following life-cycle stages are not included:
- manufacturing processes,
- product use phase,
- end-of-life treatment

Our climate work as a company
In addition to reducing emissions through design, material choices, and logistics, Innoflame carries out voluntary climate actions at company level.
For several years, we have
- compensated our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions (own operations), and
- supported climate projects corresponding to parts of the emissions generated from materials and logistics related to KAJO products.
- These voluntary climate actions are part of Innoflame’s company‑level climate work and are implemented by supporting independently verified, Gold Standard‑certified climate projects.
Examples of supported climate projects
Solar energy project, Rajasthan, India
- Project: 400 MW solar power plant in Rajasthan
- Benefits: Reduces fossil fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions, creates local jobs, provides training, and improves infrastructure.
- Total project emission reductions: 694,471 tCO₂e/year
- Standard: Gold Standard VER (GS ID 7071)
- Environmental benefits: Mitigates climate change through renewable energy use and reduces dependence on fossil fuels. Street lighting also improves local safety.
- Social benefits: Provides training (first aid, nutritious food) for local residents, creates jobs, improves living standards, and enhances local infrastructure.
- UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) addressed:
- SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
- SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
- SDG 13: Climate Action

Offset project for 2024 and 2025:
Gold Standard ID 7071 – Solar Energy Project, India
Reforestation project, Sodo region, Ethiopia
- Project: Reforestation in the Sodo region, Ethiopia
- Desription: Local communities implement the project in collaboration with the NGO World Vision. The goal is to protect severely degraded forests and plant new trees to support long-term ecosystem restoration. Seven nearby communities are directly responsible for implementation and have already planted over 76,000 trees.
- Carbon sequestration: Approximately 863,000 tCO₂e over 30 years
- Standard: Gold Standard VER (GS ID 3007)
- Project owners: World Vision Ethiopia & World Vision Australia
- Environmental benefits: Protects biodiversity, mitigates climate change, stores carbon, restores natural systems (e.g., streams), controls erosion, and protects water resources.
- Social benefits: Local development projects and training, creation and improvement of livelihoods, long-term and fair employment for local residents. The project aims to create 80 permanent jobs by 2030 and employs over 1,500 seasonal workers.
- UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) addressed:
- SDG 1: No Poverty
- SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
- SDG 13: Climate Action
- SDG 15: Life on Land
